Sale Sharks flanker David Seymour in action

Hungry: David Seymour

Sale flank David Seymour is eager for the Sharks to bounce back when they face off with Exeter in a pivotal Aviva Premiership clash on Saturday.

The north-west based outfit saw their play-off hopes suffer a blow last week when they fell to Harlequins, losing 27-12 at AJ Bell Stadium.

Consequently they now sit in sixth spot, three points behind the top four, but know that a win over Exeter at Sandy Park would lift their hopes.

"We were disappointed by parts of the game against Quins, it was a massive opportunity for us to push on towards that top four and it's disappointing that we weren't really at the races in certain parts of the game," Seymour told PremiershipRugby.com.

"Defensively we made a few individual errors and missed tackles on the tries but fair play to Quins they played at a high tempo and we couldn't handle that.

"On Friday, we weren't really on form, Harlequins took their chances and they came and played well. However, it doesn't get much harder than going away to Exeter the following week, but that is the challenge we have in front of us and we need to prep well for that."

Claiming a victory at Sandy Park is no mean feat however as the Chiefs, who recently lifted the LV= Cup trophy, are a difficult proposition, especially on their home patch.

"We need to bounce back. With Exeter being behind us that makes this weekend as big as it can be really, it is a massive points difference at the moment, but if they get the result that will give them a chance," added Seymour.

"Nothing is a given at this point in the season, it is definitely a must-win game, we only have three games left and it has been a good year but we need to finish the campaign strong and finish sixth.

"You never know whether top four is out of our reach in this league, if we get the win at the weekend and other games go our way there is still a chance. All we are looking for is a result against Chiefs which is a tough place to go for most clubs."
