Northampton Saints hope that England and Lions prop Alex Corbisiero will finally return from injury when they face Bath on May 2.
Corbisiero last ran out for his new club against Castres in the Heineken Cup last October, but has been sidelined with a knee injury picked up during the November Tests with England.
The 25-year-old has been plagued by knee problems over the last few years, but started and scored the British and Irish Lions last year in Australia.
Having missed the Six Nations, Northampton now hope to bring Corbisiero back before the end of the season.
"As we've said all along, we expect Corbs to be back before the end of the season," Mallinder told the Northampton Chronicle and Echo.
"We're hopeful he'll be back for the Bath game."
Northampton are also waiting on the return to fitness of captain Dylan Hartley, who injured his shoulder against Leicester.
"He'll be back towards the end of the season," added Mallinder.
"It won't be the next couple of weeks, but he's improving.
"He had a bit of sunshine on his shoulder (on Saints' recent warm weather break to Lanzarote) and it seems to have done him well.
"We'd hope to have him back some time towards the end of the season, but it won't be the next two weeks."
