Powerful addition: Dan Leo

London Irish have continued to strengthen up front ahead of next season, adding Samoan second-row Dan Leo to their forwards.

Making the move from the Top 14 with Perpignan, the second rower is returning to England having formerly represented London Wasps before moving across the channel.

Leo will join what is fast becoming an impressive set of forwards at the Madejski Stadium, with Edinburgh duo Geoff Cross and Sean Cox confirming their transfers at the end of the season as well as Ireland prop Tom Court.

The New Zealand-born forward has played 34 Tests for his country, and brings the wealth in experience of two World Cup tournaments in 2007 and 2011.

He made his first appearance in the Premiership in 2005, leaving for France in 2010.

"Dan Leo is a seasoned campaigner and will be a huge asset to our squad next season," said Irish Director of Rugby Brian Smith.

"He knows what it takes to win big games and titles from his time at Wasps and has a wealth of Test match experience. He's a big physical player comfortable at lock and across the back row. He adds further strength and depth to the pack and we're delighted to have him on board."

"I'm excited to be moving back to England to join London Irish," said Leo.

"I always enjoyed playing in the Premiership and I'm excited to go back to compete in that competition again. Irish are building nicely for the future it I'm looking forward to being part of it."
