Dickson favours scrum-half rotation

Northampton Saints scrum-half Lee Dickson believes Jim Mallinder's rotation keeps he and rival Kahn Fotuali'i fresh and hungry as the season wears on.

Dickson missed much of the domestic duties during February and March with England, playing second fiddle to in-form Danny Care for the Six Nations.

But having returned to Saints after England's final match in Rome, the scrum-half has rekindled his friendly club rivalry with Samoan international Fotuali'i, with both sharing the number nine jersey for much of the season.

"We're fresh rugby wise but mentally it's always hard because you're itching to get on," Dickson told the Northamptonshire Telegraph.

"But I am fresh, I feel very fit and when I came on at the weekend I did my job well.

"I really upped the tempo well and did exactly what I want to from the start of games.

"I've rested, me and Kahn are rotating well and hopefully going into the end of the season we'll be firing.

"You don't lose anything when anyone comes on. That's one of the biggest things for this club in the last 20 minutes - it's adding so much rather than having to keep people on for the full 80 minutes."
