Staying on: Stuart Hooper

Bath have announced on Monday captain Stuart Hooper has extended his contract for a further year with the Premiership club.

A man greatly admired by his peers, Hooper's commitment is great news for Bath as the club looks to senior figures to nurture and educate the younger members of what is an extremely promising squad.

"This was not a tough call for me," said Hooper.

"I love leading this squad and am proud to do so, so signing on again was a great moment. Bath is a very exciting place to be, and playing my part in helping this great Club grow is a genuine honour."

"Hoops is a fantastic leader and has real presence, so to extend his contract is a big plus for us," said head coach Mike Ford.

"He is massively respected by everyone at Bath and is playing arguably the best rugby of his career. Needless to say, we are extremely pleased he will be here next season."
