Bowing out: Will James

Gloucester second row Will James has announced that he will retire from the sport at the end of the season.

James, who captains Gloucester on Friday in the LV= Cup on Friday against the Scarlets, has made 159 appearances for the club to date.

The 37-year-old played for Wales at the 2007 Rugby World Cup.

James joined Gloucester in the same year from Championship side Cornish Pirates, having previously played for Pontypridd RFC.

He will now take up a coaching position at a Yorkshire school after hanging up his boots.

"I've had a great career but I want to finish on an absolute high," James told the Gloucester Citizen.

"I'll enjoy the games I'm going to be involved in and hopefully I've be involved in many more before the end of May.

"Coaching is something I've been looking to get involved in for a while and it's a great opportunity I couldn't pass up."
