Sale Sharks have confirmed the capture of former Scotland second-row Nathan Hines from Clermont at the end of the season.
37-year-old Hines won 77 caps for Scotland, and toured with the British and Irish Lions in 2009.
Born in Wagga Wagga, Australia, the 6-feet-7-inch lock won the Heineken Cup with Leinster 2009/10, and was a fan's favourite for both club and country.
"Nathan is a world class player and will fit in well with us at Sale Sharks," said Director of Rugby Steve Diamond.
"He has vast experience playing at the highest level and is a regular starter at Clermont. Last weekend he was magnificent in helping his team beat Racing. The forwards at Sale Sharks have played well this season and adding Nathan to the group will be a big boost to us."
