On the rise: Miles Benjamin

Leicester fly-half Toby Flood has not ruled out Miles Benjamin completing a "whirlwind" season by playing in the Six Nations.

Benjamin recently returned from over a year on the sidelines after fracturing his neck in a pre-season match after joining Leicester in 2012.

The former Worcester wing scored two tries against Montpellier in Leicester's Round 3 win, before playing his part in the return victory in France last Sunday.

"I thought [Miles] was outstanding against Montpellier at our place and scored one of his tries virtually off his own back," Flood told the Leicester Mercury.

"His ability to cut in and score for that first try was superb.

"To get on the end of the second try and finish like he did shows what a talent we have had in our backroom for the past 18 months.

"He's in incredible shape and is one of the fastest players I have ever played with.

"He has been outstanding for us and will get better. To keep himself happy and mentally ready to play after what he has been through and the amount of hours he has put in during rehab is to his eternal credit.

"His spirits have been good. He is a quiet lad and he just gets on with it. He is an honest guy and we respect that. He suffered by himself, got his head down and worked hard.

"On days like Sunday, Miles showed his quality."

Assessing Benjamin's chances of making the Six Nations squad given the injuries on the wing to Marland Yarde, Christian Wade and Ugo Monye, Flood said that if Benjamin continued his good form he would certainly be in with a shot.

"He needs a run of games now and it's tight for the Six Nations but there have been a few injuries," added Flood.

"I think he has got the potential and, if he keeps putting his hand up, it would be a whirlwind year for him if he got picked for that squad and had a go at the Six Nations."
