Ford hoping for better weather

Bath fly-half George Ford is excited his backline colleagues finally have the opportunity to showcase their attacking skills.

Having relied heavily on the pivot's boot throughout much of the early-season games, Bath's latest two fixtures - against Exeter Chiefs and London Wasps - have played out in dryer conditions.

The likes of Matt Banahan, Jonathan Joseph and Semesa Rokoduguni have all shone in recent weeks with ball in hand.

Forecasts suggest the Premiership side's next clash with the Chiefs on Saturday will be in more favourable conditions, but the 20-year-old is confident he and his team-mates can achieve a result whatever the weather.

"It has been massively frustrating for people like JJ (Joseph) and Anthony (Watson) that they haven't been getting the ball they want to on a dry track," Ford told the Bath Chronicle.

"I have been trying to give it to them but the last time we played Exeter the conditions allowed us to do that. You could see what they could do and it's massively exciting to play in a back-line like that.

"Hopefully we can just wish for more dry days in the future but we want to be a side that can play in every condition.

"That's what marks out a great team. They can turn up when it's throwing it down and grind a win out and they can turn up when it's dry and score some tries.

"We've had a good mixture and I think we have shown we can play in both."

The fly-half is equally satisfied with his own performances since arriving at The Recreation Ground from Leicester Tigers in pre-season.

"I am playing okay. I am in a good place," added Ford.

"I feel good about myself, I feel good in training, I feel good in games. I probably feel the best I have ever felt since I have been playing professionally and I am probably the fittest I have ever been."
