Staying at Kingsholm: Henry Trinder

Gloucester have confirmed that centre Henry Trinder has agreed a new contract to remain at the Kingsholm-based club.

The Swindon born midfielder has been in sparkling form so far this season and earned a call up to train with the England squad ahead of the Autumn internationals.

The 24-year-old has spent his entire playing career to date with Gloucester, having come through the club's Academy, and his new deal is a real statement of intent for the club.

With England international centre Billy Twelvetrees and full-back Rob Cook also having signed a new contracts recently, director of rugby Nigel Davies was delighted to confirm the news regarding Trinder.

"We're very pleased," said Davies.

"Henry can form a formidable midfield partnership with Billy Twelvetrees which, moving forward, will underpin Gloucester.

"He's been in superb form so far this season and I firmly believe will only get better.

"It bodes well that, with the likes of Billy and Rob Cook already having signed, these players want to stay with Gloucester Rugby and help drive the club forward.

"When players of this quality want to sign for us, and you have to remember that it's a very competitive market out there and that they'd be coveted by any club, it speaks volumes of the ambition of the club and the environment that we've worked hard to create."

Meanwhile Trinder admitted that he's happy and relieved to get his future sorted out.

"I'm very happy to get it all done," he said.

"It's been a busy last month or so with the England call-up, so it's great to get it all out of the way so that I can focus on my rugby.

"Kingsholm is a fantastic place to play rugby and, after I spoke with Nigel and he outlined where he's hoping to take the club in the future, I wanted to be part of that.

"I think it would be fair to say we've not hit our stride fully yet this season, but we've got a really talented squad and I know we've got more to deliver than we've shown so far.

"I'm looking forward to playing my part and helping the side realise its potential this season and beyond."
