Wade: two tries at Kingsholm

Wasps boss Dai Young heaped praise upon flying winger Christian Wade after the youngster grabbed a brace in their win over Gloucester.

The 32-30 victory at Kingsholm on Sunday was Wasps' first success away from home since February, and Young was keen to pay tribute to Wade's crucial double.

"You have to say that the first try was a good finish but the second one was something really special," said Young.

"Nobody else could have scored that try so we probably owe him a victory there.

"He is disappointed not to be with England but he is a very respectful kid as well.

"He knows there are quality wingers in the England set-up and they have done really well all season.

"Stuart (Lancaster) and the coaching staff (at England) have given him things to work on and sent him back to us to play - and thank God they have because he really was the difference between us winning and losing.

"But we all know he is an international player and he is going to play lots of times for England.

"He copes with the disappointment well, he wants to be in there, he knows he has things to work on and he takes on board the things the coaches say to him."

Speaking on the match, Young acknowledges his side may have benefited from a slice of luck to grab the win.

"We were awful, to be quite honest. For 35 minutes, we did as much as we could to lose that game," he said.

"We talked about being accurate for the first 20 minutes and we lost line-out which is uncharacteristic this season.

"I am just pleased to come away with that win because, with 10 minutes to go, it looked unlikely."
