Injured: Semisi Taulava

Worcester Warriors have been hit by a double injury blow after losing Semisi Taulava and Ravi Fatiaki following Saturday's defeat to Newcastle.

Number eight Taulava and outside centre Fatiaki's injuries are another concern for Dean Ryan after what has been a poor start to 2013/14.

"Rav has not broken anything, but he has damaged his ankle joint and will be out for a few weeks," director of rugby Ryan told BBC Sport.

"We've lost Semisi for a significant chunk of time. He will be out for a couple of months I'd imagine."

Taulava came off early in the second-half of the Warriors' 16-11 home loss to the Falcons, while Fatiaki was forced out just nineteen minutes into the same match.

The latter has started all of Worcester's five Premiership fixtures to date, but a like-for-like replacement for the centre is available in the form of Scot Alex Grove.

The Warriors will also be boosted by the arrival of a hefty Argentinian contingent following the conclusion of the Rugby Championship. Agustin Creevy and Marian Galarza return to the squad, while new signing Leonardo Senatore will look to win his first appearance in November upon serving out his ban for biting.

In the meantime, with Taulava's injury, Welshman Jonathan Thomas will switch from blindside flanker to number eight to fill the void left by the powerful back-row.

The ex-Wales international claims that the Warriors are desperate to atone for a poor start to their Premiership campaign, losing all five of their opening league games.

"We're bitterly disappointed with the way we've started the season and the way we've performed," Thomas told BBC Hereford and Worcester.

"There was a lot of expectation going in, but we have a great group of people here, we have great coaches and the team spirit is still good."
