Staying on: Steve Diamond

Sale Sharks director of rugby Steve Diamond has said that the current coaching staff will remain together next season.

Diamond took over once more at Sale following the departure in John Mitchell in December, whilst Bryan Redpath who was initially brought in as director of rugby at the start of the season is now working as an assistant coach with Pete Anglesea.

Sale have now won their last four matches in all competitions, with two victories in the Aviva Premiership including one over relegation rivals London Welsh. That means the gap has closed between Sale and London Irish to just a single point at the bottom. Sale will next face Harlequins at home on Friday.

"For the next couple of years, the coaching team will be staying as it is," said Diamond to BBC Sport.

"We're still bottom of the league, but to beat the side that's only a couple of places above us was really important.

"But this week we come across the top of the league, which is a completely different proposition.

"We've got to be at the top of our game and they've got to have a shocker, driving up in the fog and the ice, for us to stand a chance of winning."

Teams at the bottom have to make the most of the absence of top table stars in the 6 Nations "window". Although Grey will be missing I think Sale wil be less depleated than Harlequins so their momentum may get them though or at least take a LBP.

London Irish will be looking over their shoulder. They need to focus on the next match though. Just reminds me of Wasps last year.
