Brian Smith: Excited to work with Palframan

London Irish have bolstered their front-row stocks by signing 18-year-old tighthead prop Richard Palframan from Super Rugby outfit the Sharks.

Palframan already has the physical attributes to compete with the best in his position and has featured in all five of the Durban-based outfit's U19 team's matches this season.

He is an exceptional ball carrier who continuously breaks the gain line and has a solid scrummaging and line-out game.

London Irish's director of rugby Brian Smith is excited about working with Palframan.

"He is an outstanding prospect," he said.

:He is a very physical player and exceptionally good with ball in hand.

"He will work with Glenn Delaney to enhance his all round game and continue his progression. We believe we have real gem on our hands."

Palframan wants to make a big impact in his new surroundings.

"I am very grateful to the Sharks for the opportunities they have given me, but the chance to join London Irish was too good to deny."
