According to Bath's website and also on the BBC he's off at the end of the season, with Haag possibly off too.

Gold, Mallett and Catt have been mentioned as possible candidates.

Catty back with us? I'd love to see that!

juts read the Telegraph article and a similarone in the Grauniad, all of them are suggesting that SIM will move upstairs when a new coach arrives not that he'll leave.

Also seems that SIM has been active in the recruitment process which does not seem to be the activity of a man who is going to be pushed.

1 season in charge is not enough !!!! yes we have been poor and his selection decisions odd at times but we have seen more bath youngsters coming through than ever before..what SIM has done this season has laid the ground work for the next years with genuine young talent coming through the ranks....this is the life blood of any continued success. We have two main problems at bath, our front row and our centres....We still don't know who our best combinations are and all appear average. We need a monstrous prop and a world class out and out centre.

In the interviews before the Saints game there seemed to be a lot of speculation about the roles of various personnel and SIM seemed fairly clear that he wasn't doing the job he joined to do and wasn't happy about it. A surprise because, as someone who likes to think I'm reasonably up to speed with all things Bath, I also didn't realise that we'd been actively looking for a new Head Coach since Smee left (still think he was harshly treated).

Having now read up on it some more, it would appear that there is ink being written over the pencil on a deal with a new coach but no-one is prepared to say who.

Can we please replace him with a coach with genuine hunger? My impression was always that McGeechan's presence at Bath was more about padding out his pension than a driving desire to take Bath to the forefront of European rugby!

Does that mean he'll be without a job next year? Just in time to mentor Gatland as Lions coach, maybe even be on the staff as the Manager?

Shame he couldn't work his magic as, until his time with Bath, I've always been impressed by SIM.

Where's Steve Meehan now..?

Nick Mallet..?
