Lee Byrne admits Clermont will have to limit the number of penalties they concede if they're to beat Toulon and win the Heineken Cup.
The Welsh full-back knows all too well the danger possessed by Jonny Wilkinson's deadly accurate kicking, with any indiscretion within 50 metres sure to be punished.
"We can't give away penalties in our half because it is almost guaranteed to be three points," Byrne told the official ERC website. "We will have to be squeaky clean.
"However, Toulon are full of international players so it is going to be difficult."
Byrne has poured cold water on suggestions that the Top 14 title is more important than European glory, with Vern Cotter's men determined to achieve success on all fronts.
"You hear stories that the French title is more important but everybody wants the Heineken Cup just as much." he said.
"It's massive, especially after losing last year in the semis. We sat down as a group and it surprised me how much the French boys want to win Europe. We want to be the best team in Europe not just in France."
