Clermont captain Aurélien Rougerie has been ruled out of Saturday's Heineken Cup semi-final against Munster.
The veteran French international centre tore a thigh muscle in last week's Top 14 victory over Toulouse.
Former All Blacks Benson Stanley and Regan King are candidates to take Rougerie's place in the Clermont starting XV and partner Wesley Fofana in midfield.
There was some good news for Clermont however as fly-half Brock James is expected to be part of the matchday 23 having come through training this week unscathed. James has not played since March 23 due to a thigh injury.
