George Pisi: Scored two tries

Northampton boss Jim Mallinder praised the Pisi brothers after they helped Saints to a 24-15 Heineken Cup win over Glasgow at Franklin's Gardens on Sunday.

The Warriors surged into a 15-0 lead inside the first half an hour but two tries from centre George Pisi and a fine display, which earned him the man-of-the match award, from wing Ken led the Premiership's side's fightback.

It was George's first start since injuring his shoulder against Worcester earlier this year and although Stephen Myler and Vasily Artemyev added further tries which clinched a crucial bonus-point it was the Samoan siblings which Mallinder was raving about after the match.

"He's playing well is Ken," he told the Northampton Chronicle and Echo.

"He's played really well in the past couple of weeks and he played well again today.

"We're really pleased we've got the two Pisi brothers playing for us. They're a massive threat in those outside channels. Very good."

Mallinder was particularly impressed with how the brothers combined for his side's second try.

"The second was a great try," he said.

"It's always disappointing when you have players out through injury but with George and Ken in the team we're really exciting out in those channels."

Mallinder complimented his side for the way they fought back after Josh Strauss and former Saint Sean Lamont scored early tries for the visitors.

"It could have gone a different way," he admitted.

"Glasgow are a quality side, they showed that. They've got a big, heavy pack, a back row who get round the field and make it difficult for you and a backline who take their chances.

"We had our chances in the first 30 minutes, we didn't take them, Glasgow did, which put us under a bit of pressure, but what was pleasing was the way we came back.

"We kept our composure and scored two tries before half-time, one just after half-time and in the second half we controlled the game."

Both are a pleasure to watch and are a credit to their country. The way they play the game and give 110% is a lesson to all watching the sport. Great signing for us.

Ken was...mixed I would say. Having watched the match one try came because Glasgow turned Ken Pisi and caught him out of position with a kick and then the other he was beaten by Lamont because he didn't read the step back inside. However his attacking performance was brilliant...George has the top level experience to not make mistakes like that but I'm sure Ken will get used to countering the premiership, top 14 and Pro12 kicking styles soon enough and then he'll be a real threat.
