Bismarck du Plessis: Set to face the music

Springbok hooker Bismarck du Plessis has been called to appear before a SANZAR Judicial Officer after being shown a red card in Saturday's loss to the All Blacks.

Du Plessis received two yellow cards for separate incidents in the 29-15 defeat at Eden Park and had his case considered in the first instance by SANZAR Duty Judicial Officer Adam Casselden.

His first yellow card came in the 17th minute when a tackle on All Blacks flyhalf Dan Carter was deemed dangerous by referee Romain Poite, although replays showed that the tackle seemed legitimate.

"Nothing wrong with the tackle. Fell awkwardly and popped my AC joint #gutted #smashedembro," tweeted Carter, who has been ruled out for six weeks, after the game.

Du Plessis is however likely to face the music for the second yellow card, which came in the 47th minute for leading with his arm and hitting Liam Messam in the neck.

"Bismarck will be disappointed because probably the first one wasn't a yellow card, but what he did the second time was just dumb. You can't elbow someone in the throat" said All Blacks coach Steve Hansen.

The Judicial Officer for the Hearing will be Terry Willis. The hearing will be held by video conference on 17 September.
