agree with you @Dingbat32. suddenly pdv is not looking too bad at all. wish the coaching tenure was reversed if it had to be these 2.

rugbyforever,

I agree - if Kirchner gets on the pitch then Meyer looks like joining a long list of poor coaches.

When the Boks have a good coach who is not one eyed in their selections then they tend to do very well - Christie, Mallett, White.

When they revert to type and have a one province coach then it all goes wrong. Suddenly PdV doesnt look so bad.......

I must admit the selection of Kirchner baffles me as well. Joe Pieterson, Hennie Daniller, Luis Ludik or Bakkies Botha would be better options. Kirchner is a good provincial player but thats all.

I dread the continued selection of Zane Kirchner. Neither he nor Ricardo Loubscher should be allowed into a rugby stadium even as spectators!! By allowing them into the Springbok set-up leads me to doubt the abilities of Heineke Meyer as a leader. I truly hope I will be proved wrong in the long term as SA rugby must not be allowed to lose its strength. Thankfully there are many promising youngsters coming through so please don't let them be lost by poor selections as has happened to so many in the relatively recent past.

Well, melkdave, that strategy has stood them in good stead more often than not so bring it on! Go Bokke!

and @melkdave: Dude it's 'bokke' not 'bokkes', in the same way that it's 'All Blacks' and not 'All Blackers'. Haven't we had this conversation before?

"We have a gameplan, but if the conditions are different from what we're expecting, then we'll switch to a plan B," said Loubscher on Sunday.

I'm surprised no one else has commented on the absurdity of this statement. Articulation is, in my experience, a measure of competence. And you don't need a 'gameplan' in rugby, you just have to score more points than your opponents.

bloemboy says...

Plan A: kick and chase

Plan B: kick further and hope for touch

Plan C: revert to Plan A

Plan D: pick a squad for continuity, with more bull(s) in it

Plan E: recall PdV and try baffle the opposition with wit and repartee

The bokkes have a plan B ??I wonder how that will vary from plan A of kick it high and chase and hope for a turnover,at the breakdown ,and run it hard with huge forwards .SA have never had a plan B since the 70s imho if not for longer
