England may be forced into a late change for Saturday's match in Rome after Joe Marler's partner went into labour on Thursday.
Marler and his partner Daisy are expecting their first child, with the Harlequins loosehead set to start against Italy if he makes it to Rome for the captain's run on Friday.
If he is unable to then Saracens and British and Irish Lions prop Mako Vunipola will start, with Wasps' Matt Mullan coming onto the bench.
Marler has been in impressive form throughout the Six Nations and has seen off Vunipola for the loosehead spot, with another Lions prop in Alex Corbisiero sidelined through injury.
The 23-year-old has won 16 caps for England since making his debut in 2012 against South Africa.
