Yarde in doubt for Six Nations

29th November 2013 12:52

England winger Marland Yarde is a doubt for the Six Nations after injuring his hip for London Irish against Leicester.

Irish confirmed on Friday that Yarde ruptured a tendon in his hip in last weekend's fixture at Welford Road.

The 21-year-old will now undergo surgery that will keep him on the sidelines for between 12-14 weeks, putting him in a race against time to be fit for part of next year's Six Nations.

The maximum diagnosis would rule Yarde out of the opening clash against France in Paris on February 1st and the trip the following week to play Scotland at Murrayfield.

Should that be the case, England may target the extra week's break between Rounds Two and Three to reintegrate Yarde back into the squad before facing Ireland at Twickenham.

Ben Foden filled in on the left wing in Yarde's absence against Argentina and New Zealand in the November Tests.

England are already without Alex Corbisiero and Geoff Parling for next year's tournament due to injury.
