Match practice: Brian O'Driscoll

Ireland captain Brian O'Driscoll will pick up some much needed game-time for the Wolfhounds side against England Saxons next Friday.

The Leinster centre recently returned from injury and was a substitute in the Heineken Cup clash with the Scarlets last weekend.

With a busy Six Nations calendar ahead, O'Driscoll is set to be included along with Rob Kearney, Sean O'Brien and Luke Fitzgerald according to a report in The Irish Independent.

Kearney was one of five try-scorers on Saturday after missing the November internationals due to surgery on a back injury.

O'Brien underwent keyhole surgery to repair cartilage on his hip back in June, returning at the start of December, whilst Fitzgerald put in an impressive performance after returning from a long-term neck injury.

All four should receive crucial match practice ahead of the Six Nations opener against Wales on February 2.

Makes alot of sense to me ,these players need gametime badly, after long layoffs. No point throwing them into the 6Ns caludron,if they can regain match fitness and sharpness before. Its certinally goingto make the Saxons-Wolfhounds game very interesting,as usually England have it better at B leval.Anyway a good test for the young talant intheSaxons, and lets not forget theres a few older established players in the Saxons squad atm .Like Dowson,Palmer ect.

Oh dear feel sorry for the Saxons you think youre going out to play against the "B" side and you get 3 Lions and 1 almost nailed on Lion against you. I can see why they want BOD and OBrien to have some game time as theyve looked a little of the pace but Kearney and Fitzgerald have looked on top form in the last couple of games Rob looks like hes never been away
