Scotland played in the first test match EVER over a 100 years ago, You can't get a more established rugby country save for England, yet the coach has two clubs to pick a national team from. What is that? 44 players? Not really because not all of the starting 22's are test match quality or scottish qualified.
It's like Cornwall applying for a european grant to help develop a 21st century infrastructure in the south west of England, The IRB should be embarrised that they've let Scotland fall so far. Scotland has fallen through a big crack and nobody really cares. Andy Robinson is a strong character but he needs help, the rugby world is fooling themselves if they think they can leave Scotland to resolve thier problems. The professional arm of the sport has flatlining north of the border.

Good news. Johnson will hopefully get an affinity with the players and help make the right selections, something that has hampered us. AR is obviously liked by Dodson and the SRU crew, I just hope that doesn't mean he gives them an easy ride. AR has seen professionalism in England and should be imposing those ideals in Scotland (ie ensuring all upcoming talent is given the same chance, not just the protegees of the establishment). Looks like a structure is forming that can help us long term, well done Mark Dodson for showing the steel to carry this through.

Completely right to give him another season. The potential has been there, and they have been more competitive than their results indicate.

Thats good news imo i feel he was hindered to some extent by his inherited backroom staff, as well as the known problems of small player base ect.Townsend showed under Haddan he wasnt upto international attack coach but AR was forced to continue with him .Thus Scotlands kicking game and taking penalties whenever possible. This year we all saw the potential Scotland have in the first 3 games, but their runnung lines where rubbish and lateral as Townsend again showed he wasnt capable .Now with S.Johnson and M.Taylor and a clearout of players which is needed imo .Robinson can start with a clean sheet and implement a working gameplan and mould the team around it .

The right decision, although someone needs to help with his backline selections.
