The writing's on the wall for Kaino anyway. Like the rest of the AB backrow he was blown away in the RWC final by Dusautoir and Co. Flattered to deceive in the early games but didn't show up at crunch time.

@ Stag... NH clubs do have the option of not offering SH players big bucks to go there - money they could spend on home-grown talent instead, perhaps? The post from @ Hermes sums up the "typical NH mindset" perfectly: hope he's not going to "A" 'cos we really really want him here at "B" 'cos we don't have enough good players of our own...

Why do u care? Whats it got to do with you? Leon MacDonald did the same and was better for it in terms of wealth and still plyed his trade at a less intense level to recuperate. You leprechauns are all the same. You've got great big chips on your shoulders cos you can't handle that your clover munching underachievers get made to look like jokes on the international stage every time they take the field. Your criticism is weak.

All you kiwis seem to back this type of mercenary behaviour. Standard enough SH mindset. Real short term thinking, admiring someone making a fast buck. Is he too dumb to make a post rugby career for himself doing something else? Giving up the ABs in your prime to play club rugby in Japan is embarrassing for all concerned.

Excellent career choice, 28 years old possibly 5 more years hard rugby in NZ earning peanuts or set for life for 5 years in Japan. He'll be playing for Toyota club backed by a giant corporation.
Aussies will be happy cause when Richie and Kaino have started a test they have only ever won .... once (Hong Kong and the beaver).
Anyone that cannot respect the decision of a sports person wanting to make the money while they are in their prime is short sighted, these guys have a limited shelf life and they deserve to be financially rewarded in their prime because when Kaino is 40 I guarentee supporters/fans wont be paying his bills.

Thanks Jerome you have been a pleasure to watch over the last few years and you were apart of a special All Blacks team that done what many have failed to do in the past, bringing the Webb Ellis Cup back where it belongs!!! As for everyone bagging him for leaving, it's time to start blooding the next generation through so we can defend the cup in 2015!!!!

Is this a done deal? It's not announced. I just wondering as the timing of ulster announcing that wannenberg is going is right. Just a thought?

Why would he not stay in Nz? He's the best blindside in the world and he's only 28?...surely he hopes to be in England come 2015?

@ Trinats... everyone knows Pocock would walk into the Zimbabwe side but how close would Ioane & Cooper would get to an AB shirt? Also, given that O'Conner's parents are kiwis but he was born in oz could we claim him in a Franks-in-reverse way, and if so where would we play him?
I say very very close, nowhere near, absolutely & on the bench, respectively. Yours?
@ jonesy2... Thompson yes if fit. Messam - we've been there & tried it he's just not big enough for a 6 nor quick enough for 7 (the old Richie-to-6 trick) so fine ITM & S15 player that he is... thanks but no.

Incredible greed? I can only assume you're alluding to the fact that he's decided to move on for financial reasons. Let me ask you this - if another company offered you more money to do the same job, would you take it?

You're the most broken record on PR which only means ur credibility as an armchair critic is well not credible.
Look at your own backyard b4 boring us with your rhetoric tripe. It makes you Aussies like dumb.

Nice try Trinats...
Kaino left American Samoa, with his family, when he was just 4 years old.
If that is scouting, then the ABs obviously have the most amazing talent scouts in the history of sport...

It'll be sad to see him go esp if he doesn't get another 2 AB caps but as his current injury shows, the shelf life of a player in a high-contact position is becoming more & more limited so it's very much a case of making hay while the sun shines or in this case yen where the sun rises.
