How good is R. Deans? Would he have achieved an 85% win record in similar circumstances to Henry et al? Instead he won 'second prize' instead - coaching the Wallabies.... and only has a 59% record.... the real truth is that NZ produce rugby players capable of playing high intensity rugby for 80 minutes. This means that the step up through the different levels to international level can be taken in steps. It is the four tier system that both South Africa and New Zealand has that gives their teams a real advantage when playing at international level. Their players are already battle hardened and ready for international rugby.
R.Deans would no doubt have also achieved great things as the All Blacks Head Coach.... but this is a moot point these days, simply because he like Gatland are not likely to coach the All Blacks in the forseeable future! But rest assured R.Deans is a much better coach than the Connolly & Jones...

Ramage well said, Robbie seems to be doing the best that he can with what he's got and they are ranked above South Africa, France, England etc. and should be proud of their standings and to be brutally hone
st I can't see this AllBlack team getting beaten by anybody this year.

Interesting to note that the coach who is no good has the team in second place in the world despite the lack of players he has to choose from.

georgesmith have a look at other international coaches stats - while Henry stands out at 85% win, since 2000 the only coaches to have reached 70% wins were Mitchell and Smith, also for NZ. Deans 59% puts him ahead of most other coaches in that time; and who to replace him with?
And are the players never at fault? Read the PR article on Wayatt Crockett and how he speaks about his love of game, province, country - an old-fashioned approach these days. i doubt he even has a Twitter account.

S. Hanson is the best coach in the world. R. Deans is right down the ladder and will never be able to match the likes of G. Henry and S. Hanson. Goes to show NZRU got it right and knew too well R. Deans was not a good coach and that's why didn't give him the job. Onus now is on ARU to sack him and send back
