Bulls and Springboks flanker Jacques Potgieter will miss his country's upcoming end-of-year European tour due to a groin injury.
According to Supersport, Potgieter is sidelined for six to eight weeks and will also undergo an operation on the injury on Wednesday.
It is the same injury which ruled him out of the Boks' final Rugby Championship Test against the All Blacks at Soccer City earlier this month.
Potgieter is the latest player to join Bok coach Heyneke Meyer's casualty list. Western Province duo, hooker Tiaan Liebenberg and lock Andries Bekker, were also ruled out of the tour last week with back and toe injuries respectively.
And another WP player, captain Jean de Villiers is also struggling to overcome a hamstring injury, although indications are he will be fit for the opening Test of the tour against Ireland in Dublin.
Sharks skipper Keegan Daniel and Bulls back-row Arno Botha are the favourites to replace Potgieter.

I do not see them returning in green and gold. Too many battles.
I think Brussow is injured.

Thank goodness...! Now HM can't do anything stupid... like pick him.
Pity Morné Steyn is only suspended for a week... HM's lapses of insanity can still surface.

Have Juan (achilles) and Schalk (knee) given up, recovered, in training etc? I haven't heard anything and it would be a shame to think that we won't see them again, although Juan must be about 31 or 32; Schalk must still be good for another four years by age?! What about Heinrich Brussow - surely his form will return, you can't be one of the top 4 flankers on the globe one year and then (ignoring injury) mediocre the next? Yes, we have all of the young talent coming through but lets not forget the older more experienced guys and also Brussow. If not for the Europe tour, then at least for the next year.
