@ boksmashoffice - or perhaps we were just niaive, with so few caps and no test match experience together..?

As you say, bring on round two!!!

(And get well soon, Oosthuizen!)

In my opinion, the best appointment Heyneke Meyer made.

Now if only he can get someone of a similar calibre to coach the back line, then we'll be all set for world domination..!

Mwha ha haaaaa!

@APV1. Why did the early engagement happen 3 times in a row? The English were worried about the scrum. It was evident from the line outs who was on top in the forwards battle? Maybe I watched a different match to you. Bring on round 2.

Irrespective of whose scrum dominated, it is clear the Bok scrum looked particularly solid. The rumours coming out of the Bok camp is that De Villiers is having a substantial impact and I think is excellent that the Springboks have finally learnt to use quasi "foreign" coaching talent to its benefit as so many other top rugby nations do.

Tbh it was more like 2 free kicks that they actually won...and that's from a complete sharks front row against a front row who'd never played together in a test before...I'd say we did pretty well...

@APV1: I agree, Walsh took Morgan aside at one stage and pointed out the impact of his over-eager earlier engagements before he penalised him.

I'm sorry but the statement, "South Africa's pressure in the scrums saw England capitulating and conceding three free-kicks and two penalties at the set-piece." is just not true. At least three of those were our over-eagerness and we were pinged for early engagement. That's not Bok dominance, that's us cocking up!

I think we held our own against a very experienced and gelled front row, actually. Three awesome players, who play week-in, week-out together were likely to be a formidible force. And Cole, Hartley and Marler fronted up.

We have to admit that our FR subs were beaten up by the Bok FR subs. That's where the biggest impact was.
