Arg need to develope there own leagues before they could join any other tournament. It would make sense they had a team in Heineken cup as they could assemble a team easily with players in France/ Europe.
Nearly there whole team plays rugby in Europe. Super fifteen should go back to super 12 I believe with weakest team in each conference being relegated to make way for provincial torn ament winners. At least this way it would help manage players health and conditioning with all international requirements.

Let the excuses and conspiracy theories begin. Poor Saffas, again the target.

I think BokA is really Trinats in drag, never let the facts get in the way of a good story. But I do agree with him on one thing let SA go and cut down on the travelling and they can join the 6 nations or something similar, if nothing else it will shut up the Avenger ... or will it?

delighted to see 2 games per match day now, excellent

In fact there is little 'news' in this schedule - it is the same fixtures list as was made public by SANZAR 8 November 2011; all it does confirm the local venues which were not known at that time. Teams/dates remain the same.
SARU CEO Jurie Roux did not make any cry-baby noises about the schedule being unfair to SA.
No travel/dates appear to have changed.
Here we are, arguing about last year's news!

Super Rugby can't really afford to have anymore teams involved however an option might be to create a 2nd League with 2 or 3 Argentinian teams and drop 4-5 of the weaker teams from the existing Super 15 ie Lions, Rebels, W.Force so that you have 2 leagues, one with 10 teams and the other with 8.
Then should anymore teams want to start up there would still be room in the 2nd league for them to find their feet (for example the new SA team the Southern Kings). A promotion system could also be implemented making it fair all round.
Oh and by the way, who on earth thought of the name the "Rugby Championship", clearly no thought put into finding a new name for a new competition. Even the "Southern Hemisphere Nations" would have been better.

I sould also point out that in 2 of the 3 trinations titles that the Boks have won they did their travelling first & their home games were up last.

@Bokawhinger - Every team has to play 3 home & 3 away games & wouldn't you rather do the travelling at the start of the comp when your players are still fresh. Also don't forget that there are byes after every two weeks.
In my opinion the Boks actually have the best draw because although the start may be tough with the travel they are playing the newbies Argentina in both those games. Then comes the 1st bye where you can rest up & stay in Oceania for the AB's & Wallabies. Then as the Comp is reaching it's conclusion there's another bye before playing the last two games in Africa.
Where else would you want to be when the comp is being decided in those last couple of rounds?
The AB's have to go from NZ to Argentina & then from Argentina to South Africa in those last two weeks. I don't have a problem with that, I'm just pointing out that every team is going to be doing their fair share of travel.

BokA, and NZ are away the last 2/2; wow, home and away games how does that work, suppose you'd like your away games at home as well?
as with the old format the sides will effectively reverse the home/away pattern next year . . . then you can whine about playing the last two away from home!
Someone needs to 'pull out', and I think it's you!

South Africa and Argentina actually have the easier draw.
NZ and Australia both have to fly the SA/Argentina leg and play an away fixture without a bye week. When Argentina and SA do this trip, they are playing each other both weeks so there isn't an advantage to either team. You won't hear God's marketing gift to the IRB making much noise about it, they leave that part to God's sooky gift to the world.

As usual the draw is loaded against SA. The Boks do all the travelling in the first 2/3 of the tournament while NZ - God's marketing gift to the IRB - get to spend all that time petting their sheep and cozying up at home before they have to leave the land of the rigged world cup. How long will SARU tolerate this rubbish from our so-called SANZAR partners? SA needs to pull out of saNZAR immediately!

@Waz4before its already so long, they'll have to do some major reconstruction of the format
Posted 09:12 31st May 2012
Waz4before we,ve had that debate on PR before mate. We basically came to the conclusion that the travel logistics would be a major barrier to Argentinian teams playing in Super Rugby. I was all for at least one team joining SR but it was pointed out by the Aussies and Kiwis on here that its about the same distance from Argentina to NZ as it is from Argentina or NZ to Europe. So its like suggesting that a team from Scotland join Super Rugby! The reason we assume that Super Rugby is the place to go for Argentina is simply because they're in the southern hemisphere so it must be fairly close.....its not!

Airpoints! bloody hell, look at the travel involved, SA-Arg then the reverse a week later, maybe on same flight to Arg? And the last two matches for Arg at home NZ/Aust, expect they'll be strong at home. Who wasn't bored with the old format?, and sly old Graham Henry started this week with Arg as a coaching advisor, should be a great comp this year.

Fantastic development. I wonder if there'll ever be room for Argentinian sides in the Super Rugby competition as well ??
