Glasgow: Trouble brewing

Three Scotland caps and a Sevens international have reportedly been involved with a serious early-morning Glasgow kebab shop assault.

The fracas broke out on Sunday at Barbeque Kings kebab shop on the city's Great Western Road, and left Glasgow Hawks centre Ally MacLay seriously injured. He was rendered unable to attend his job as a PE teacher on Monday, and is ruled out of playing for his club side for a lengthy period.

According to reports in the local press, the players in question include one injured Scotland cap and two Glasgow Warriors players in line to play for the national side against Japan on November 9th.

Police are investigating the incident, thought to be using the kebab shop CCTV footage.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "We received a report of a 29-year-old man assaulted outside a takeway shop in Great Western Road in Glasgow around 01:25hrs on Sunday morning. Enquiries are continuing and no arrests have been made."

Prior to the assault, it is understood that an altercation between Glasgow Warriors and Glasgow Hawks squad members took place in the nearby Viper nightclub, resulting in one Warriors player being ejected from the building.
