Shit team - will not trouble Australia - on a hiding to nothing. I hope they play better than they did at last years RWC.

Make sense? Maybe not. I'm a New Zealander, and I don't consider myself an Australasian even though I'm from the region. I'm actually a European extension of Britain, the Danes, the Romans and the Greeks.
Going by your attitude towards the Scots... I'd say your British lineage is more than likely that of the Englandshire ilk.

@ New_j4a... yes due - it's pedantic. But hey, I'm a geographer believe it or not - it's what I do for a crust. Australasia - a term I don't actually like because it is Australia centric (which being a kiwi, just sticks in my craw), is a term generally associated with New Guinea, NZ, Australia and associated Pacific Islands. So it is a bit of a loose term. The haggis munchers aren't going to New Guinea or NZ - so as far as I'm concerned in my pendantry, they aren't travelling to Australasia. More like Oceania really.
But yeah, I get what you're saying. If I'm travelling to Britain, I'm going to Britain (not Europe). But if one goes to say France and Britain, then yes we might say we are on a European junkett.
But geographic terms are used in different ways. Europe is a generic term I'd suggest while Australasia - given the size (or lack of in terms of population) and geographic spread is a more specific terms because it generally relates to 3 countries in a human geography context (even though some of the islands are included and ecologically that is true).

@Pacifier, well he is no more Scottish than Tuilagi(Samoan) is English or Falatua(Tongan) is Welsh. It's not Vissers or Scottish rugby's problem that England were too stupid too pick him. The bottom line is that under the rules clearly set out by the IRB Visser has fairly the qualified and Scotland have rightfully selected him as the form winger Scottish qualified winger. You can't blame Scottish rugby or Visser for taking the opportunities that have been presented before them. Well done Tim, Scotland supporters are behind you!

Pacifier: 3 players out of 28 isn't really that bad when Scotland have the smallest pool of players in the UK and in fact in relation to a lot of the nations. If you look at England it is laughable that they can not field a full compliment considering they have millions to choose from. Anyway rules are rules - perhaps a limit should be put on to stop teams fielding a full 15 of foreigners but to outrule this completely would be mad - it's hardly ruining the game

@missionary, So according to you, one couldn't say that one was visiting Europe unless one planned to visit EVERY country in Europe? Don't you think that you would have been well served to add a course or two in logic to your study plan instead of focussing on Geography and pedantry?

Visser is not Scottish. The eligibilily laws are a farce. 3 years ago he was being considered for England!
It's time to change the laws regarding eligibility to 5 years residency, citizenship, or place of parent's birth (grandparent rule is equally a joke). There have been too many cases of players playing for country's where they are not properly linked to. Look where Flutey is now. He is moving "home" to NZ.

Very surprised C.Cuister is there i feel his past his best by some way now Also no J.Cuthbert or R.Jackson .Was looking forward to seeing Laidlaw at 9 and Jackson at 10 with M.Scott and J.Ansbro in the centers with Visser and Evans on the wings and Hogg at 15.May lack experiance but its a backline with pace and thats been lacking for Scotland in recent years, and with 2 creative players at 9 and 10 to make things happen and annother at 12.J.Cuthbert i feel would also have added a physical element comming at pace from 15 as an impact player if needed. Not that T.Brown isnt deserving of his place. Will be very interesting to see how Scotland line up now and what the new coaches can do with the short time available .More dirct running would be top of my list and quick fast clearouts at the breakdown .Given that i still feel Scotland could cause an upset or at least run the wallabies very close come June.Scotland big underdogs for sure but you never write any team off as it can comeback and rip your head off .I can just imagine the uproar in the Australain media now LOL

I'd agree with craigster, Jackson has not been in form, why take him. By the looks of this squad we'll have some more inventive centre combinations and if they're coupled with Laidlaw or Weir at 10 then we should see a more attacking backline. We shouldn't fear any of the opposition scrums so Jon Welsh a good addition. And well done to Tom Brown, now perhaps Hoggy can play centre and rip holes in the opposition.

Glad to see Ruaridh Jackson is being left at home, not been on form lately. Duncan Weir needs to be given a start.

Too bad for Big Jim Hamilton he got sucked into a secondary fight w/ that piss-ant English hooker a few weeks ago. Also, and I'll continue to point it out until someone gives me an update, it's too bad Simon Taylor isn't a part of this team anymore. He should have been the captain this entire time. Hopefully Visser will ignite the offense Scotland has been lacking for so long. Lastly I notice no Ruaridh Jackson, probably not wise to give up on him just yet.

Great to see Visser in there, it's a shame he won't be able to play against the wallabies when we really need him. Big mistake not taking Jackson, he's a solid player on form and its a long way to go with just two fly halves.

Best one of that lot by a country mile is Visser. Dutch he maybe, but what a great opportunity to show his skills at the top level. An opportunity that few Dutchmen will ever have. This is where the nationality rule really comes to the fore, giving Scotland a class player and Visser a major opportunity. I hope he enjoys it. Well deserved.
