Former Australia hooker David Nucifora has been linked to become Ireland's new high performance director, according to reports.
Nucifora has previously carried out a similar role for Australia and coached the Brumbies and Blues in Super Rugby.
Ireland head coach Joe Schmidt previously worked together with Nucifora during their time at the Blues.
Nucifora's role will reportedly consist of overviewing the professional game in Ireland along with the development of new talent.
The Irish coaching team of Schmidt, John Plumtree and Les Kiss will remain intact.
Nucifora's appointment is expected to be confirmed following the signing of the new European club rugby accord this week, according to the Telegraph.
The 52-year-old won two caps for Australia at hooker and was famously sacked by the Brumbies after winning the Super Rugby title in 2004.
Ireland will play two Tests against Argentina in June.
