Jamie Heaslip: Heading to France?

Ireland and Leinster loose forward Jamie Heaslip has opened possible transfer talks with French clubs, according to reports in the Irish press.

The Irish Times reports that Heaslip is in France discussing terms with Toulon and Montpellier about a move that could see him leave Leinster at the end of the season.

The 30-year-old British and Irish Lion, who has 65 Test caps, is believed to want to stay in Dublin but, in a similar situation to Racing Metro fly-half Jonathan Sexton last year, talks with the IRFU have stalled.

Heaslip became the highest paid rugby player in Ireland after signing a three-year deal in 2011, but amidst continued uncertainty regarding the future of European club rugby, he is likely to become the next big name to move across the Channel.
