Positive: Brian O'Driscoll

Despite few people giving Ireland a hope this weekend against the All Blacks in Dublin, Brian O'Driscoll still believes a win is possible.

Carrying a slight calf niggle, O'Driscoll will equal Ronan O'Gara's record of 128 caps should he be passed fit.

Ireland's all-time leading try-scorer is yet to win against New Zealand in his career, with time gradually running out on the 34-year-old centre.

Reflecting on last week's dire performance against the Wallabies, O'Driscoll admitted that unless improvement were made Ireland would be on the end of hiding against the world champions.

Ireland have never beaten New Zealand in 27 attempts, with their best result being a 10-10 draw at Lansdowne Road in 1973.

"We were poor against Australia and that level isn't acceptable," said O'Driscoll.

"If we play anything like that level against the All Blacks there is the potential for a cricket score."

O'Driscoll added that having Ireland's chances written off could in fact work in their favour, stating that victory was always a possibility.

"No one will give us a chance but I'm the eternal optimist so I still believe we can beat them," added O'Driscoll.

"If you catch them on an off day and things go right for you, there's always a chance.

"Everyone will write us off but I'm okay with that. We'll treat this game just like any other: as one we can win."
