Ireland played well in the first test.... but the ABs still 'blew' them away on the pitch and the score board. Ireland were able to turn the ABs over on a number of occasions but were not able to counter the pace and intensity of the ABs. The score line was not helped by Dan Carter only missing one kick at goal. The outstanding Irish players for me were Fitzpatrick and Healy.... alongside BOD. The score may be closer this weekend.... but who would have predicted a score of 42-10 for last weekend?

@ Melkdave
When the Kiwi can execute what they can do, they are virtually unstoppable. When the pressure rises, some cracks appear.
Test Match level is their cup of tea, WC Rugby not so much.

I agree it is their best chance... because they lost all the others

While i think teams are closing the gap on NZ overall its not closed yet .what makes them so good is their ability to do the basics superbly and at pace. There is still a gap for all teams in that regard imo.and its going to take a few years yet for it to be closed .Not expecting Ireland to win any tests to be honest .but im hoping they are close games ,and by close i mean 3-5 point victories rather than the 10-20 point wins NZ usually get

"apart from a 66-28 blowout - results close" well I'd differ on that one, don't play too often but game before that they lost 3-21 at Croke Park in 2008, and the game after, Nov 2010 at Landsdowne Rd lost by 18-38.
Just 9 of the 22 in the NZ squad from that match are playing tomorrow, and 10 from Ireland, big changes in such a short time.
Maybe tomorrow.
