Wales winger Hallam Amos is looking forward to testing himself against Alex Cuthbert when the Dragons face the Blues on Boxing Day.

The holiday derby will pitch Amos against one of the men ahead of him in the pecking order for national selection.

Only 19, Amos was capped against Tonga and is looking forward to the challenge ahead.

"It will be a good challenge," Amos told WalesOnline.

"I like pitting myself against the best and he is a Lions try-scoring Test winger and one of the best in the world, so it will be nice to see how I go against him.

"Hopefully I can stop him getting on the scoresheet. He does pop up with quite a few tries.

"Alex is obviously an amazing player, but with someone like him you know a bit more what he is going to do compared to the likes of Jordan Williams at the Scarlets or Shane Williams.

"You know what is coming really. But I don't really have a preference to be honest, when it comes to big or small opponents.

"I think it's nice to get your head around both and learn from both when you play against them.

"Alex is big, but he's also very quick over the first 40 metres."

Reflecting on his time with Wales, Amos acknowledged the step up regarding intensity in training and highlighted the work ethic of Leigh Halfpenny as an inspiration.

"The accuracy and intensity in training was a big thing," added Amos.

"With the Welsh squad, it is very switched on. Just looking at people like Leigh Halfpenny and George North, their professionalism is at another level really.

"Before the Tonga game, Halfpenny - one of the best players in the world - spent four hours on the laptop, three days before the game, just looking at Tonga.

"His attitude to training is superb. He is always the last one to leave the pitch, always doing extras and he is showing how effective it can be.

"The professionalism that Leigh, in particular, shows is something I haven't really seen before and hopefully it's something I can emulate and bring to my game."
