Toulon owner Mourad Boudjellal says the Wales and Cardiff Blues captain Sam Warburton is not a target for the Top 14 giants.
Boudjellal, while paying tribute to the British and Irish Lions skipper, felt that his club would not get much match-play for their money with the 2015 World Cup on the horizon.
"I can tell you that Sam Warburton will not end up in Toulon," Boudjellal told the Toulon website.
"I met with the player, but it is not agreed on wage claims. So this is an issue that is long closed, even if (he) is a very good player.
"Sam Warburton is the captain of Wales, so that means we will not have him during international matches. I told myself that one year from the World Cup, the priority of Sam Warburton would be the World Cup and not the Top 14."
Warburton's contract with the Blues is up at the end of the season, and his future remains under serious question as negotiations between the Welsh Rugby Union and the four regions continue.
