Sam Warburton Wales v SA 2013

Consultation: Sam Warburton

Wales captain Sam Warburton will visit a shoulder specialist in London on Wednesday to clarify the state of his injury.

Warburton suffered a stinger to his shoulder in the defeat against Australia on December 1st.

The knock forced him to miss Cardiff Blues' 29-20 win over Glasgow Warriors in the Heineken Cup last Friday.

Having already had scans on the shoulder, Warburton is now looking for further assessment to discover how long he will be sidelined.

Blues director of rugby Phil Davies confirmed the trip to London on Tuesday when discussing Warburton's condition.

"Sam is going up to London tonight. He's going to see a specialist," said Davies.

"It's a similar injury to the last time, a stinger. It's just a case of seeing what the severity of it is really.

"We'll see. He's having great care."

Warburton had previously set the Blues and WRU a deadline of Wednesday to decide his future, with the national captain reluctantly assessing his options having been linked with a move to Toulon.
