Uncertain: Warburton & Halfpenny

Wales captain Sam Warburton has reportedly set the Cardiff Blues and WRU a deadline of Wednesday to finalise his future.

Warburton is out of contract at the end of this season but has expressed a desire to stay in Wales rather than join the exodus abroad.

The likes of Jonathan Davies, George North and Dan Lydiate will all ply their trades outside of Wales next season due to the financial limitations imposed on the regions.

Warburton will now wait to see if an agreement can be reached before moving on most likely to the Top 14, according to the Telegraph.

The WRU has previously stated that financial packages of around £1m would be released to the regions to help keep top players in Wales, but speculation last week suggested that the governing body were happy for the four sides to collapse in order to create a new format.

Leigh Halfpenny's future has reportedly already been decided, with the Telegraph also stating that the IRB Player of the Year nominee has decided to leave the Blues for a move to the Top 14, although his destination is unclear but where his talent would demand a top salary - particularly as a goal kicker.
