Toulon-bound: Ian Evans

Reigning European champions Toulon have confirmed the arrival of Wales international lock Ian Evans on a three-year deal.

The 29-year-old will move to France from the Ospreys at the end of the current season Toulon confirmed in an announcement on their official website.

The news is further testament to the ongoing "player exodus" from the Welsh regions to both England and France.

The second-row would join the likes of Jamie Roberts, James Hook, Dan Lydiate and Luke Charteris in the Top 14, with fellow British and Irish Lion Jonathan Davies set to join Clermont at the end of the season.

Evans becomes Toulon's third new addition to their pack for next season, following Perpignan hooker Guilhem Guirado from and Montpellier loose forward Mamuka Gorgodze.

"It is important to make the right decision, but when the time comes I would be fairly confident I would have made the right decision," Evans said earlier this month.

"There have been offers from England and France. There is a lot on the table, but it is not really a distraction.

"It is a balancing act. There are obviously issues that you've got to consider and decisions you've got to make, but I've got a family on the way and first and foremost that is what I am looking after to be honest."

Andy Lloyd, Rugby Operations Manager at the Ospreys, said: "On behalf of the Ospreys I'd like to thank Ian for his years of service to the region."

It's not the way that either he or the Ospreys would have wanted to announce his departure but, unfortunately, due to there being so many unknown variables in the Welsh Rugby landscape, incidents like this will continue to happen at every region."
