Debutant: Amos

Teenage Dragons wing Hallam Amos is expected to make his Wales debut against Tonga in Cardiff on Saturday.

Coach Warren Gatland is likely to make sweeping changes to the side that overcame Argentina 40-6 in Cardiff last weekend, with full-back Leigh Halfpenny, wing George North and prop Rhodri Jones thought to be the only survivors.

James Hook and Lloyd Williams could partner each other in the half-back positions, with Ospreys lock Ian Evans set to return to Welsh duty after a spell sidelined through injury.

Dragons skipper Andrew Coombs is also expected to win a place in the back-row alongside veteran Ryan Jones, who should wear the armband on Saturday.

19-year-old Amos follows in the footsteps of centre Cory Allen, a year his senior, who made his international debut against Los Pumas.

But Allen's fine start to Test rugby was blighted by a dislocated shoulder, and with midfield colleague Scott Williams struggling with a toe ligament injury, a new centre partnership may be in the offing.

Should that be necessary, it is though Cardiff Blues' Owen Williams will come in to the side to pair up with Osprey Ashley Beck.

Were Hook to be named in the number ten jersey, the Perpignan pivot would be Gatland's third fly-half of the November Tests, with Rhys Priestland and Dan Biggar playing in the two previous fixtures against South Africa and Argentina respectively.

It would be the exile's first Welsh start for over two years.

Prop Paul James should link up with Scarlets hooker Ken Owens and Jones in the front row.

Despite his availability for Saturday's fixture, the deal with James' club side, Bath, allowing James to take part in a Premiership clash with London Wasps, has now been called off.
