England have been dealt a major blow with the news that dynamic number eight Billy Vunipola will miss the rest of the Six Nations.
The 22-year-old was forced off in the first half of last Saturday's 13-10 win over Ireland at Twickenham.
One of the best ball-carriers in the tournament, Vunipola had solidified his spot at the back of England's scrum after making his debut last year against Argentina.
A scan on Monday revealed that Vunipola sustained enough ligament damage to his ankle to rule him out for the reminder of the tournament.
"It is a blow as Billy has had a good Six Nations but he is young and will be back," said England head coach Stuart Lancaster.
"The encouraging thing is we have got Ben Morgan and other back rows such as Matt Kvesic and Tom Johnson who are all competing hard for places."
