England call up Watson

04th November 2013 07:18

Called in: Anthony Watson

England have added Bath youngster Anthony Watson to their squad ahead of Saturday's Test against Argentina.

Watson joined the group after being included by head coach Stuart Lancaster, with the English looking to make it two wins from two this month.

The 19-year-old joined Bath from London Irish over the off-season and has played both on the wing and at full-back in the Aviva Premiership so far in his fledgling career.

Earmarked as long-term player for England and hailed as a serious talent by the likes of Clive Woodward, Watson will be exposed to England's training methods at Pennyhill Park in a similar manner to the way London Wasps lock Joe Launchbury was introduced last season.

Launchbury has since gone on to feature in 12 Tests for England, including against Australia last weekend.

"We are bringing Anthony Watson into camp because we want to take a look at him in the same way that we have done in the past with others outside the Senior or Saxons squads such as Joe Launchbury," said coach Lancaster.

"Anthony is a member of the Under-20s squad and is playing well for Bath so this is a good opportunity to give him a taste of this environment."
