Samoan international Kahn Fotuali'i has backed his Northampton Saints scrum-half rival Lee Dickson to win the England nine jersey next month.

Dickson is set to face competition for a November Test match start from Leicester's Ben Youngs and also Harlequins number nine Danny Care.

"Fingers crossed he will be among it," Fotuali'i told BBC Radio Northampton.

"Hopefully he will get a start for England. I would pick him as England's first number nine the way at the moment the way he's playing."

28-year-old Dickson has shared the scrum-half role with new signing Fotuali'i this season, with the former keeping the latter out of the starting line-up for last weekend's Heineken Cup clash with the Ospreys.

"Lee is a credit to himself and has put in the hard work," added Fotuali'i.

"Training-wise he is out there doing the extras - passing, kicking. We both do the same and feed off each other.

"We learn off each other. Well, I learn off him and hopefully he learns from me."
