@ArmchairGeneral - Marler or Corbisiero isn't a call I'd make, I'd give them forty minutes each to be honest. The former needs experience, the latter is coming back from injury still.

Botha over Parling is bonkers, not only is Parling far superior to any of our other locks at the lineout he also makes the most tackles and, arguably, carries better. Hopefully we'll have Lawes back for the autumn internationals and a few others will have put their hands up but currently, Parling is head and shoulders above any of our other second row options.

Haskell has done nothing this season in a Highlanders shirt or on tour except getting sin-binned regularly. He doesn't deserve the blindside shirt, let alone have the talent to fill it on current form. Johnson has played well in both games so far, why does he lose his place?

Dowson isn't an openside. Never has been, never will be, and has also produced nothing in an England shirt no matter how many chances he's been given. Give Carl Fearns a run, he deserves it after his performance mid-week.

That left-wing spot is wasted on Tuilagi - he's a centre. We've got nothing to lose at this point by giving Wade a shot, or by playing Foden there and bringing in Goode at full-back, who has looked promising when he has played. Manu, if he makes the team, should only be considered at centre; I'd partner him and Joseph again, personally. I like the idea of May playing on the right-wing though!

What does it say about our attack coach with Abendenon and May eating all the pies? Maybe not ao much but makes you think??

My team. I think Corbie will get the nod but I'd prefer to give Marler all the experience possible... Vickery damned Marler with faint praise in his article. But anyhow:

1)Marler

2)Hartley

3)Cole

4)Palmer

5)Botha

6) Haskell

7) Dowson (capt)

8) Waldrom

9)Care

10) Flood

11) Tuilagi

12)Farrell

13)Joseph

14)May

15) Foden

I think the fact that Hartley will be Capt means Dowson will not start and Haskell will be 7 to Johnson at 6, but above is my prefrence. Ashton and Strettle I think need dropping. Even from 6 nations they were living on borrowed time. Sarries is no great training ground and I expect them to struggle to return to England. Lost chance for them.

@ markmassive - I well-admit my blue-bland-and-white bias and agree that Attwood didn't shine. But neither did anyone at Bath, more's the pity. He's raw and technically missing some aspects. He's also partnered with Caldwell, who's no slouch. But because of that he can be moulded into a fine 2nd Row. He's got all of the basics and some great aggression. With new coaches and a new front row at bath, we might see him come to the fore...

lawynd I heard Skivington had a good season and Matthew Garvey. I've not seen alot of Ed Slater excuse my ignorance. Also I know there are alot of Attwood fans, but he had a dire season with Bath.

I still think Courtney Lawes is the first choice pick and i do feel no one else has exactly put their hand in the air. I disagree with Palmer I don't feel he has the presence to mix it with the best. Just look at Argentina v England in the world cup. Our forwards got a lesson that day.

For the chaps wanting someone a bit bulkier and nastier to partner a lineout technician, beyond the obvious candidates, how about:

Ed Slater, Leicester - currently a bit too abrasive at times, but a decent lineout option, a hard tackler and a nuisance at the breakdown.

George Kruis, Saracens - I've not seen too much of him but he's a big lad and pretty quick too.

George Skivington, Irish - hopefully he'll get far more game time for the Exiles than he did at Leicester, he's a pretty destructive runner and steals more than his fair share of ball at lineout and breakdown.

Goode at number 10. The lad is cool under pressure, great awareness and can kick!

Corbs will start, with Marler on the bench, I reckon. Otherwise you could be right.

I'd rather see Abendanon on the bench, depending how he fares today.

I think a 2nd row of Lawes and Attwood would have the necessary bulk, skill and bite. I appreciate that they're both learning their trade, so technically they're still a bit short. But that can be taught. I like their aggression and would like to see them paired up in a white shirt.

@Frank81 & markmassive

I agree that Attwood would be an option but I also think Matthew Garvey has a lot to offer. He's only 25, and he's 122kg and a great tackler.

Frank81 says...

@ markmassive - I agree. We need one nasty second row to compliment a more technically gifted second row. Maybe Dave Attwood eventually, although he needs a big season with Bath. Struggling for others to be honest, any other ones are coming towards the end of their careers. Maybe Kris Chesney?!

This is interesting because of who has been left out. I think we'll see Haskell at 7, Care at 9, Waldrom at 8 instead of Morgan, Foden back at 11, and Goode at 15, with everyone else the same. Not sure who would take the extra place on the bench though, probably Turner-Hall. I also think that Gray may get the hooker position on the bench.

I still don't see how steffon armitage isn't in the squad...and I'd take the selections in the midweek to mean that Care will probably be starting as will Waldrom...I would however be surprised if Haskell makes the cut unless Robshaw is out.

Lee Dickson and Ben Morgan starting with James Haskell and Mouritz Botha on the bench....I understand this to mean for the final test we will see Danny Care starting for the injured Ben Youngs, Tom Palmer coming into the starting side for Botha, Haskell replacing the injured Robshaw and Waldrom starting for Morgan, with potentially Strettle also being replaced by Joseph ! eg.my guess is

1)Marler

2)Hartley

3)Cole

4)Palmer

5)Parling

6)Johnson

7)Haskell

8) Waldrom

9)Care

10) Flood

11)Ashton

12)Barritt

13)Tuilagi

14)Joseph

15) Foden

MarkMassive I'd say we have our fair share in Tom Palmer and Courtney Lawes. Palmer in particular is a big unit with some good skills. Would've liked to have seen Lawes out there for this tour.

Why are all our second rows all very similar? Parling, Botha, Kitchener and Robson are all very technically talented but they're so light weight.

Where are the Martin Johnson's, Simon Shaw's and Danny Grewcocks. We need some bite from our heavy weights.

Wish the Armitage brothers were at that wedding instead of Abendinon!!
