David Pocock: Remains sidelined

Wallabies flank David Pocock and lock Kane Douglas have both been ruled out of this weekend's Test match against England in London.

The pair had scans on calf and knee complaints respectively, with the results confirming that both would have to bypass the game.

Pocock had been scheduled to return to playing duties after last having appeared during the opening match of this year's Rugby Championship against the All Blacks. He has been sidelined since with a medial ligament injury.

Douglas, who has had a dramatic week after his mother was hospitalised in London after becoming ill on her flight over from Australia last Friday, featured in last weekend's Test match against France at Paris.

Wallabies medical staff will re-assess the injuries to both Pocock and Douglas next week once the side has arrived in Italy ahead of the third match of their European tour against the Azzurri in Florence.

@OzinLondon

That's weird, I haven't found the press one sided at all. If anything I've found the press quite negative about England's performance with most saying that if we play like that again we'll get squashed by Australia. What are you reading exactly as you can't judge us on papers like Daily Mail or the Sun, they're yobbo papers?

I for one am disappointed with the injuries, all of them. It really ruins a game when teams don't have their first choice available. Plus I think England would do a lot better against a full strength Australia team than this one as we'd know exactly what you were bringing. This weekend will basically be two unknown teams playing one another for the first time.

The Wallas are up against it but with all the crowing (after a win against the power house of Fiji... with most of their first string players missing) by England fans... this is gearing up nicely for an egg on face type moment.

errrrrrrrrr.......... what crowing is this ??, as you said England beat Fiji, but i have yet to see any crowing about it, post all you like but please don't troll England just to make yourself look witty.

Australia will always put up a good fight ( although Deans is trying his utmost to stop that !!!) , this looks to me looks your trying to get your excuses in first !.

OzinLondon says "France played well but not great" : I have to disagree with you. It was imo France's best performance since the WC final game. Now I agree with you that the Aussies did not deserve a 27 points defeat. I think 25 pts would have reflected the gap better ;-)

D. Pocock injured, pliz not again. Shouldn't he be sent home to recover instead of being excess baggage and denying another younger player a chance. R. Deans has once again proved how hopeless he is with player management by trying to rush D. Pocock back. This guy is destroying the Wallabies future. How badly overrated is Waratah K. Dougles? This guy doesn't even deserve to be on tour just like D. Dennis. They are so soft for rugby. Get rid of them and N.Sharpe, S. Kepu, R. Deans so the team can start winning.

Gee whiz

What happens if England don't beat a hopeless, injury-plagued, scrum dodging Wallaby outfit... at home... in Australia's off-season?

Here's hoping...

I was in Paris and frankly embarrassed for the Wallabies. I don't think there was a lack of effort, just a lack of organisation or a plan B. France played well but not great but were able to get on a roll and build momentum.

I'm not for a second suggesting the Wallabies deserved anything from the game but France were not 27 points better. I wouldn't be at all surprised if the Wallas win this weekend and France take yet another beating from the the Pumas.

I'm glad that a number of England supporters think the result is a foregone conclusion. The one thing that is the same about the Aus and Eng teams is that when they are expected to play well they often falter and when they are completely written off they often prove people wrong (before falling back into old habits the week after).

The other thing about the Wallas and England is that the players often believe their own press... keep the dismissive stuff coming people...

That can only be good news for England!

I think that the game will be decided up front (if England know what is good for them) in the set piece and at the breakdown where Pocock operates very, very well.

I'm not as nervous about the game now - looking forward to a good performance and a win at home for our boys!

Good news for England; as an inexperienced side they will benefit from Pococks absence ...

No David Pocock. That's a boost for England and a blow for Oz.
