Not good, unfortunately Mitchell is far too injury prone to have a prolonged career in test rugby. Hope he recovers well.

@Georgesmith
This is what ive been saying for a long time, with no national league/cup whatever,Players will go to the NRL rather than play union...Also hasnt the ARU been down this route many times with many players W.Sailor ect Surly its better to have them actually playing union already, rather than have to learn it later,as the league players dont always workout or stay long They are 2 very different games after all.,Also its a bandaid solution at best,Australia needs a national competion of somekind ,and the ARUs failure in this respect is/will have consequences in later years.

Australia Rugby Union needs to get out of its slumber, now!
A short-term solution is to target NRL players because suddenly we realize all the talent has gone to the NRL and ARU has failed really badly.
Billy Slater should have been Wallabies fullback, Greg Inglis at 13 and Jonathan Thurston should be the playmaker. These players can tackle when they defend and they know how to attack unlike R. Deans and wobbly bunch of losers.
G. Inglis will beat the hell out of the All Blacks and is the Australian version of SBW.
It¿s time to get sponsors and raid the NRL for top players and also work on improving the front-row by using younger players.

What a shame..he was one of the few Wallabies that opposition teams fear (respect) which ever way you see it...and as an opposition fan, he is a loss to the game (hopefully for only the next 12 months..Get Well soon Champ

It's so unfortunate. D.Mitchell was such a fine player. But it's time to move on. Now we need to give those Reds backs more chance of playing. D. Mitchelll is injury prone and can't be depended upon. He needs to recover well, go back to club rugby and then see if he is up for Test rugby.

A major shame and a major blow to the team and the back line, he will be sorely missed, all the best in his recovery you never know what may happen in 18 months time, he may yet be back!

He has some terrible luck with his injuries, which is a real shame because, on form, he's one of the best finishers around.
Is it just a case of appalling luck, though, or is he rushing back too soon?

What a shame, feel sorry for the guy. When he's on form he's one of the best wingers in the world, definitely something the Wallabies could benefit from. What's he going to be like after this set back? Luckily he seems very professional and positive in his approach and he has got a lot of experience of rehab so maybe we'll see him playing for Oz again.

Such a shame for a very talanted player,i feel this maybe the end of his international career,as it will be18 months before he gets regular gametime,as i cant see RD picking him for test matches without any S15 games.

Can't help but feel sorry for the bloke, injury after injury. I wish Drew a speedy recovery and that he returns to full health.

Feel very sorry for the guy, has been an incredible player at times and is a decent bloke.
The only winger with all the skills that Aus has had in a long time

And nothing of value was lost. Wallabies are made of glass and are always exposed by their lack of depth.

Robbie Deans, what a farce this has become.
Deans must go. O'Neil must go.

I have a feeling he'll be hot on Vickerman's heels to the retirement podium w/ the constant long term injuries he's suffered throughout his career.
