Vuna was lucky really it wasnt a straight red ,you cant run straight though a player in the air ,FULL STOP.It is very dangerous to do so ,and is rightly penalised by the IRB and refereesThe fact its unintentional really shouldnt have any bearing on a referees decision, but alot of referees these days seem scared to make HARD decisions ,and either pass the buck to the TMO for tries ect or citing commissionier, for bad tackles and unsportman like conduct.I really hope that referees start growing a pair soon ,and make decisions .Dosent matter if they are right or wrong ,as long as they are honest decisions.

It is in the report.

"Vuna faces being banned for the third Test after sin-binned in the 59th minute for taking Halfpenny out in mid-air in contravention of Law 10.4(e) Dangerous Tackling, and 10.4(i) Tackling the jumper in the air. "

@Jonesy2

Are you a total moron?? I am absolutely certain you have never played this game or have any inclination as to the rules that govern it, unless your a site moderator just getting a thread going???

An opposition player may contest the ball in the flight, but he/she must not interfere with the airborne player in any other circumstance!!!

In your (experienced???) opinion did Vuna contest the ball?

This particular rule is one of the most sensible ever to be invoked to the game of rugby union in order to avert head neck & spinal injuries, due to a player not being able to control his/her landing.

Vuna should have without doubt been given a red card, but you somehow state Halfpenny should have been penalised for the knee in the head of Vuna as he charged through Halfpenny in mid air!!

Halfpenny did come down on his head & sholders and was very lucky. You on the other hand need to get a rule book & grow a brain, please do the latter first just in case your not sure!!

jontheref there you go again with the ambiguous name you give yourself you make a pontifical statement "far worse than any of the tip tackles that have brought red in the last year or so. Well thanks for your great knowledge especially when you are comparing incidents in other games. Of course your experience as a junior referee far outweighs that of the guy refereeing the game. Just a suggestion it would be better to add the words In My Opinion. Had you done so I would not have written this post but I strongly disagree with your comment quoted above. In my opinion to say it was very dangerous and brutal is I believe an over reaction and in sanitizing the game it will soon be illegal to touch an opponent.

just trying improve on his stats from first test - made two tackles and missed five; I was surprised he even made the 22 for this test, whether he gets a suspension or not, surely he won't be selected for next week, Robbie?

how can he be cited for a dangerous tackle when he didnt tackle anyone? he run towards the ball and then copped a knee to the head from an airbourne halfpenny who as a result flipped up and landed dangerously.

Idiot! Get rid of him for the next game. Beale to fullback and AAC to wing.

Also, replace Alexander on the bench. Our scrum became a shambles once he came on.

I'm not optimistic here. Vuna has a track record on this sort of thing. To my uneducated eye they almost always look like mistakes, but after this latest incident I am forced to one of two theories, I don't know which:

- he's a slow learner especially at the faster pace of test level, or

- he's a nasty piece of work cunning enough to camouflage his deliberately foul play.

I lean towards the first explanation, not the second.

Wales lost because they could not close the game out.

If the tipping had been a red, who knows?

Very few refs will give a red for this, but it was very dangerous and brutal.

Far worse than any of the tip tackles that have brought red in the last year or so.

But that is up to the iRB, bless them, to ajudicate on.
