Tim Bateman Hurricanes SR 2014

Back at 12: Tim Bateman

Hurricanes coach Mark Hammett has made two changes to his starting line-up for Friday's clash with the Highlanders in Wellington.

Up front, hooker Motu Matu'u comes in for an injured Dane Coles while Tim Bateman replaces Alapati Leiua, who will come off the reserves bench, at inside centre.

Loose forward Brad Shields is set to suit up as well, with Hammett choosing to go with a 6-2 split in the reserves this week.

There's little that separates the two sides on the stats sheet, and even less between them on the New Zealand conference ladder.

Both the southerners and the Hurricanes sit equal on 30 points, both have won six matches, and both have claimed six bonus points in the process.

The history books also show the two teams have met 22 times during Super Rugby, winning 11 games each.

Hurricanes: 15 Andre Taylor. 14 Cory Jane, 13 Conrad Smith (c), 12 Tim Bateman, 11 Julian Savea, 10 Beauden Barrett, 9 TJ Perenara, 8 Victor Vito, 7 Jack Lam, 6 Faifili Levave, 5 James Broadhurst, 4 Jeremy Thrush, 3 Jeffery Toomaga-Allen, 2 Motu Matu'u, 1 Ben Franks.
Replacements: 16 Ash Dixon, 17 Chris Eves, 18 Reggie Goodes, 19 Blade Thomson, 20 Ardie Savea, 21 Brad Shields, 22 Chris Smylie, 23 Alapati Leiua.
