Perpignan hooker and captain Guilhem Guirado has been sidelined for six weeks with a broken thumb.
The 27-year-old French international sustained the injury in the 17th minute of USAP's Heineken Cup victory over Edinburgh on Sunday.
Guirado, capped 18 times but not selected in the France squad for the November tests, will have to wear a cast for at least three weeks. The Catalans are hopeful he will be ready to play again in time for their trip to Munster on December 8.
He will however miss the club's Top 14 clashes with Bordeaux-Begles, Oyonnax and Toulon.
In more bad news for Perpigan, winger Richard Haughton has been ruled out for four to five weeks with a torn thigh muscle.
